Chemical Modification of Pvc
نویسنده
چکیده
The degradation of PVC at a processing temperature is mostly caused by its abnormal and unsta— ble molecular structures. It has been pointed out that its allyl chloride structures play a significant role as the abnormal and unstable structures. Inasmuch as the allyl chloride struc— tures are markedly more chemically active than the normal structure, the selective chemical treatments are applicable to the allyl chloride structures. The thermal stability of PVC can be remarkably improved by treating PVC with certain organo—aluminiuin compounds or protic solvents. Concretely, the results of analyzing the reaction mechanism with the low molecular model compounds of PVC or the tracer show that the selective stabilizing reaction on the allyl chloride structure takes place. On the other hand, the improvement of the mechanical properties of PVC, such as softening temperature, rigidity, anti—creep property, impact strength and tensile strength, is important for practical applications of PVC.

Poly(vinyl chloride) on the Way from the 19th Century to the 21st Century*
Despite all the technical and economic problems and the public discussions on the environmental dangers and hazards of chlorine chemistry, poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) is the second most produced plastic (with a worldwide capacity of about 31 million tons), placing after polyolefins and before styrene polymers. Presently, PVC production worldwide is growing at a rate of more than 4% per year. The...

This review presents a strategy for management of poly vinyl chloride (PVC) waste by chemical modification as a viable method. PVC contains chlorine as a source to attack by nucleophiles (Nu-) and resultant product can be used for various applications due to its conductivity, antibacterial and ion exchange properties. Prominently used Nuare I-, SCN-, OH-, N3 -, phthalimide anion and concentrate...

The chemical modification of hydrophobic polymer matrices is an alternative way to elchange their surface properties. The introduction of sulfonic groups in the polymer changes the surface properties such as adhesion, wettability, catalytic ability, and adsorption capacity. This work describes the production and application of chemically modified polyvinyl chloride (PVC) as adsorbent for dyes r...
متن کاملSynthesis, Characterization, and Application of a Bio-Based Plasticizer for PVC: Epoxidized Acetylation Cardanol
A bio-based plasticizer, epoxidized acetylation cardanol, was synthesized from cardanol, which experienced acetylation reaction and epoxidation reaction. Chemical structure of epoxidized acetylation cardanol was characterized by FT-IR and 1H NMR. Plasticized PVC films (PVC-P) were prepared by casting method with 40%wt of epoxidized acetylation cardanol as a plasticizer. Thermal s...
